Marion is the Artistic Director of Murmuration Arts. She believes that the communities we inhabit, the experiences we are exposed to and the opportunities available to us shape who we become. Her approach is adaptive and responsive to the people she meets, creating projects that grow from relationships, shared experiences and local stories.
Marion facilitates the creation of new networks that connect individuals as they move through different stages of life. She works with communities to widen opportunities for people to engage in the arts, often through in-depth research and long-term relationship building. As a leader, Marion focuses on bringing out the best in the people she works with — recognising individual qualities and skills, and supporting people to grow in confidence, creativity and leadership.
Marion is also Forest School Level 3 trained, bringing nature connection and outdoor practice into her community work.
Marion produced and directed Nightlight Lullabies, a large-scale sound, light, film and live performance installation inspired by her journey into motherhood. The work weaves together recordings of local mothers, live singing and lullabies co-written with parents, alongside visual vernacular film inspired by Deaf parents and their bedtime rituals. The project has toured across the UK including Derby, Crawley, Peterborough, Brighton and Stockton, most recently developed in collaboration with the Deaf community in Derby.
Marion also produced Wyld Mothers Fire, a weekly support group that meets around an open fire and hosts guest speakers and artists. The group became close to her heart after the birth of her daughter, and she brought her arts practice to help shape and develop the programme.
Marion was a founding member of Ragroof Theatre and Co-Director of The Ragroof Players, developing and managing both companies for 15 years. She has toured internationally as a performer and worked as a Performance Director and Producer. She directed Bridges y Puentes, developing a new performance language for site-responsive promenade work.
Marion previously volunteered with Clowns Without Borders UK, touring in Zimbabwe, India and Greek refugee camps, helping deliver psycho-social support to children living in crisis situations.
